What WHOIS actually shows

WHOIS is the public record every registered domain has — when it was registered, when it expires, and which registrar it's with. It won't show a private individual's contact details if their registrar has WHOIS privacy switched on (ours is, by default), but it will tell you whether a domain is genuinely available, or just sitting unused.

No separate tool to learn

Common questions

Is this WHOIS or RDAP?
RDAP — the modern replacement for the old WHOIS protocol, run by ICANN-accredited registries. Same purpose, more reliable and structured data, works for gTLDs and country-code TLDs alike.
Why can't I see the owner's name or email?
Most registrars, including us, protect that information by default through WHOIS privacy. You'll see registration dates, expiry, and the registrar — not personal contact details, unless the owner has switched privacy off.
How current is the data?
It's fetched live from the registry each time, with a short cache to keep lookups fast — so it reflects reality, not a stale snapshot.
Can I look up a domain I don't own to see if it's really available?
Yes — that's exactly what search does. If it comes back "taken," the registration details shown here are why.
